Uniting for America
America has always had two principal parties. However, the philosophical differences between them, their internal fracturing, and their inability to work together have never been so far apart in modern history. Yes, in the past, they would hold heated arguments and support their beliefs—but in the end, the two sides would sit down together and work it out. That cooperation has almost completely disappeared and shows no signs of ever returning.
Some have argued it began to break down after the Kennedy’s Vietnam. Some have argued it was Nixon's resignation or Clinton’s impeachment, the Bush’s war in Iraq, or Obama’s 'Individual Mandate' that put us where we are today. What or when it started is somewhat irrelevant. What is relevant is we find ourselves with two parties that cannot work together—and that dysfunction has given us a President who has fomented (and exploited) a divide in our country unlike any have seen before. The GOP has fractured into the Tea Party and Far-Right Nationalists. The DNC has shattered into Socialists and Far-Left Progressives. Those representatives in the middle have disappeared: through retirement or election losses (mainly primary).
Sadly, the majority of America is not on those fringes. The majority of America consists of moderates to the left and right of center. Where is our representation? Have we, American’s in the middle, lost our voices to the fringes because we have lost faith that either party cares about what impacts our daily lives? Have we become a country that votes against candidates instead of for them? Have we become a country where money controls our political parties, and the views of the few are forced on the many? Yes. That is what has happened. And that is why American Moderates has been formed.
American Moderates are liberals and conservatives in the middle. We come from all walks of life, but hold one thing in common: we believe in our country. We believe both parties have left us for the fringes of the American population and for special interests which only benefit a small fraction of the country. We believe America is better than this. We are the silent majority, and we will be represented. We will be a force to be reckoned with.
We are American Moderates, and we are America’s Party.
